   SUBSETS: latin and latin-ext only. cyrillic, cyrillic-ext and vietnamese were
   returned by the API and dropped — nothing on the converted pages needs them.
   latin-ext is kept because the Turkish dotless i in "Simit Sarayı" lives there.

   FILE COUNT: the API returns 18 @font-face blocks but only FOUR distinct
   files — Google serves one variable font per family+subset and points every
   weight at it. Verified by md5: all five Montserrat latin blocks are one
   34.7 KB file, all four Playfair latin blocks one 37.6 KB file. Deduplicating
   took the payload from 738.7 KB to 159.4 KB. The block structure below still
   mirrors Google's exactly, one block per weight, so weight selection and
   unicode-range behaviour are identical to what the site served before.
